Hi Seongja,

I have been thinking of you a lot and hoping we would have time to catch up, but things have been so hectic here. We have had an opportunity to go to Brunei, where HK can study for her International TESOL qualification and I will teach English in Public schools, like I am here, while she does that.

It has happened very, very quickly and we have only had a few weeks, I don't think it is even close to a month, to get organised from having the opportunity given to us. I only received the contract last week and we have been sent tickets to fly out this Friday morning from Incheon. It has all been very frantic and stressful for us.

I expect that we will be away for about 18 months or so at this stage. Well, we will be living in Brunei for about that long, but the contract for me is really good in that I will have school holidays about every 10 weeks and we will probably come back to Korea for most of them. I will have a total of 10 weeks vacation a year. That seems like a dream compared to my 10 days in Summer and 10 days in Winter here.

The main reason we have agreed to go to Brunei, especially with such short notice and so much stress, is for HK to improve her English teaching qualifications abroad and also to live in an English-speaking community. Brunei is a former British protectorate, so English is widely spoken. That is British English and not American English as well. With the new President's English Education policy, we know that if HK does not improve her qualifications and skills for English she will probably not be able to work in public schools in a few years time.

I will keep this short as we have so much to do today, but will write again from Brunei. I hope you are well and we will see you in September probably.
